Toy Safety

Although all toys are designed to be as safe as possible, please be sure to monitor your bird’s behavior and keep a close eye on the general maintenance of the toy; making sure to trim or remove any frayed ends or loose parts that could entangle or could be ingested. Also keep in mind that larger birds can swallow the smaller toy parts. It’s also wise to remove the clappers from any bells if your parrot is mechanically gifted.

All toys are made from safe, high quality materials such as veggie tanned leather, food colouring dyes, untreated wood, safe chewy and hard plastics that do not contain any harmful substances. All natural materials such as seagrass, raffia and bamboo are tested for safety and we only buy toy parts from trusted sources who manufacture them especially for birds. All hardware is stainless steel or nickel plated and the cotton and seagrass rope will fray and break very easily. However, please contact us if you have any problems.

Toy Sizing

Be it a tiny Linnie, an Eclectus, or a Cockatoo it’s always import to select the right size toy for your avian friend, so we have provided you with a basic sizing chart which is meant to be a guide.

Small Toys: Budgies, Cockatiels, Lovebirds, Parrotlets, Small Conures and Small Parakeets.

Medium Toys: Caiques, Cockatiels, Conures, Meyers, Mini Macaws, Quakers, Ringnecks, Senegal, and Small Cockatoos.

Large Toys: African Greys, Amazons, Cockatoos, Eclectus, and Macaws.

Parrots are very intelligent creatures with diverse preferences that are constantly changing from month to month, and their toy selection should also be diverse so that their interest is always stimulated. What toy works for some parrots might not work for another, so it is best to know what is safe for your particular bird. It is good to know habits particular to your parrot, how destructive it is and what is safe for them when making your toy selections.
